Fijians Too Strong For Illawarra

THE Fijian national team proved too strong for Illawarra's State League division two netball side at Fred Finch Park at the weekend.

The Fijians, complete with Figtree resident Marjorie Parr in their line-up, ran out 61-34 victors.

The training match formed part of a Fijian tour ahead of both the 13th South Pacific Games in Samoa later this month and the world championships in Auckland in November.

Fiji have played a series of games against NSW sides under the guidance of new coach, former Silver Ferns goal keeper Vilimaina Davu.

Illawarra went into the match off a lengthy losing streak in the State League competition.
