FIJIAN captain Seremaia Bai interrupted his build-up to last night's Rugby World Cup match with Australia to make a frantic drive to be with his wife for the birth of the couple's third child.

Bai, who replaced Mosese Rauluni as Fiji's skipper against the Wallabies, heard news that his wife had gone into labour at their home in Clermont-Ferrand, 360km away from the team base.

He left the team hotel on Friday night for the four-hour drive to Clermont-Ferrand and arrived 90 minutes before his son, Isaiah, was born in the early hours of Saturday.
